Lisette Del Valle

Today God gained an Angel. Lisette Del Valle, you were one of the strongest, happiest and most resilient people I know. You handled your pain with grace and always with a smile. You were an inspiration to everyone who came in contact with you, teaching us how to live, how to fight and how to laugh even in times of strife. Your DreamStreet family will never forget you Halle Berry for you have left an unerasable impression on each of our hearts. I am so fortunate and honoured to have known you and though you are no longer with us, I take comfort in the fact that you are no longer suffering.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."
-- Inspired by an Eskimo Legend

I know that the brightest star in the sky tonight will be you, Carlos and Tracy smiling down on us. You will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Lisette <3

J'ouvert (Jou-vay)

For once we actually woke up early  to go see J'ouvert, so eagerly, we headed into San Fernando. What a disappointment. One band was all we saw and they weren't even playing ole mas. It was more of a block party than J'ouvert mud mas and ole mas. I don't know if they planned on starting when daylight came but then that's not J'ouvert is it? Sad. At least we got out and did something even though it turned out to be a buss :P

Chutney Soca Monarch

Picture 50/365
Chutney Soca Monarch
I'm just sitting in my room when suddenly I hear all this loud music. So, I'm thinking there's a fete nearby, maybe in the park or something. When I go to ask my mummy now, I find out that it's not a fete but rather the Chutney Soca Monarch finals in Skinner Park. Skinner Park!? And I'm hearing the music so clearly it's as though it's next door. Crazy oui. Sorry for those who hate loud music late at night yes.

So we watched a bit of it on TV. Well technically we didn't watch the competition but the entertainment courtesy Machel Montana that they had during the wait for results. So Rikki Jai won the $2million with "White Oak and Water" and Ravi B, sore loser that he is, incited violence and encouraged the crowd to throw bottles etc. Ridiculous. I don't even think he was charged. Several fetes and events dropped his act though. Waiting for Digicel to drop his behind. Chupidness yes. Steups.

Happy Birthday Mummy!!!!!!

Today was my mummy's birthday and also the all-inclusive fete. It was fun. We had a good time. Lots of good food, drinks and music. It wasn't overly packed so people weren't rubbing up on you or anything but it was a bit of an older crowd. Nonetheless, Leslie and I enjoyed ourselves listening to Roy Cape All-Stars and Denise Belfon. Benjai never showed up though :( Denise and Roy Cape were bess though! Denise could rellll wine (not like we didn't know that but it's even more jaw-dropping to see it live). She seems like a cool, down-to-earth person. Leslie wanted to mash up d place when he heard Advantage but he didn't want to draw too much attention so he held back a bit :P I don't think mummy got to enjoy it as much as she wanted to though because she had to keep running back and forth doing school business. She looked gorgeous though, as usual ;) ,and Blaxx shouted out a Happy Birthday to her :D

Accomplishment!

Picture 48/365
Labs.
Yes yes, I did it! Handed up my labs today! Woopwoop! Now onto all the other assessments I have to get done. So proud of myself! Apparently, I'm 1 of only 6 to hand them in on the deadline date though...crazy? I think so. Tomorrow, I'm off to an all-inclusive with my parents and Leslie. Excitement! Can't wait. It'll be a nice to get out of the house and do something for Carnival. I'll let you know how it goes :D

Labs...labs...and more labs

Picture 47/365
Be Festive. Celebrate.
So as predicted I stayed home today also. Still didn't finish completely but I will finish tomorrow during school and hand in my lab book because I definitely do not want that on my hands this weekend. How does the saying go..."Out of sight, out of mind"? That's right. Once that's all handed in, it becomes one less thing on my plate to worry about. It's nice doing labs in a way though because I get in the chemistry mood (a rare occurrence) when I start reading up notes and chapters for things to include in my discussion. I feel as though I'm learning-a very lovable feeling by the way. I always start to feel a little more determined? Is that the word I'm looking for? No, no, I feel more focused, more studious. I feel as though I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. It's a good feeling. Hopefully it sticks around after I hand in these labs.

Please Don't Stop the Music.
I stayed home today and did Chemistry labs. Still didn't finish or get far enough so I'll probably end up staying home tomorrow also, especially since I was informed that Tuesday and Wednesday are apparently Upper6 Stay-Home days. Joyous.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Picture 45/365
ME & YOU
So today was valentine's day, not that I paid heed to it much. I didn't feel especially excited or anything, except for when one of my friends got a bunch of roses and was over the moon with excitement. She was blushing all over the place hehehe. Too cute! Otherwise, the rest of us celebrated "Singles Awareness Day." I did allow myself a kiss chocolate though :P Spent almost the entire lunchtime sleeping on the bench...a bit of a sad way to spend valentine's when you think of it huh? But I was tired! Maybe one day in the future it'll be a more lovey-dovey holiday for me. If not, I'm pretty sure I'll survive :P I hope all of you had a great time with your loved ones! <3

Losing steam

Picture 44/365
Sprinkled with raindrops
Worked on my Applied Math project today. I was all into it at the beginning and then when I got to evaluation and conclusion (the most important parts) I ran out of steam and just did a kind of quickquick ratch. It's just our first draft though but I think it'll be a nice project for the final thing. *fingers crossed*

Head full of aches

I got an incredibly painful headache today after I came home from lessons. At first, I thought maybe it was because I was hungry but no such luck. After eating it became so much worse that I had to go and sleep. That was the only way I could have gotten any relief. Stupid headache ruined all my study plans. Hmph. But I did get some much-needed sleep :D

Tahrir Square

Friday 11th February, 2011

Today was an amazingly historic day in Egypt. Leader for over 30 years, Hosni Mubarak has finally stepped down after 18 days of protest in Tahrir Square, Cairo. I screamed when I saw the headline on the news. i am so excited for the Egyptian people! They have accomplished so much and have inspired so many. Imagine, only last night, Mubarak insisted that he was not going to step down, causing angry screams of protest and streams of tears to flow down peoples' faces. I experienced such joy, relief and pride for Egyptians everywhere. After years of a violent and oppressive rule, they set out to take back their country and never gave up until they accomplished just that. They say that the ones who own Tahrir Square own all of Egypt and surely the Egyptian people now have control of their country. Translated to Freedom or Liberty Square, Tahrir Square will definitely be a place our children will read about in their history books.

A moment of history. A moment of triumph. A moment of freedom. Egypt, once the Jewel of the Arab world has taken the first step to reclaiming this title. I hope that their transition of governments is a fast and peaceful one. Congratulations Egypt! May your future and the future of your people always be as bright and full of opportunity as it is now. EGYPT IS FREE!!!!!

Study Session

Picture 41/365
Soaring to new heights.
Today I stayed back late after school and did work with one of my friends. I was doing chemistry labs and she was doing math. Our school is so nice before and after hours when there are not many people around. It's quiet and calming. Our principal allows study group sessions in school until 10pm. I never tried it but now I think it would actually be fun and productive. Maybe I'll give it a try one of these days. The only problem would be the lack of an immediate food supply...hmmm.

Challenging the Mind.

So there's a new math teacher at our school. He won a scholarship and is now teaching as his form of service to pay the government back. Today, he came to our applied math class and gave us these worksheets with two questions that he prepared for us. Now, the way in which CAPE brings questions is very direct, so he gave us questions that made us think more. We had all the tools to do the problems but had to think how to use them. Well, this frustrated and angered almost the entire class. Why? Well I don't really know. Apparently he seemed to make them feel stupid. I personally think that those sort of questions are cool even if I am as clueless as what to do as the others. The only thing that was not nice for me was when he got frustrated with us and seemed really angry. Twas not nice even though there was a good reason for it. I'll try the worksheet over the weekend though. Hopefully, it'll be good.

Burning the midnight oil

Picture 39/365
Love those Single Barrel ads.
39 minutes again and mummy would have been asleep for 5 hrs! Yay! Success! I'm so happy! She needs to rest! Hmph! I, on the other hand, am trying to make some headway with my chemistry labs. I feel more motivated to study chemistry and physics these past few days. Do you hear that daddy? A miracle eh! :P I sort of broke my fast tonight. I went on Facebook to help promote an event at my mummy's school and I ate a slice of chocolate cake that mummy baked on Sunday. It was just for today though. I think I might have to upload the '365' pictures every 2 weeks or so though, because the more I have to upload at the end of my fast, the less likely it is that I'll post them. Uploading pictures on Facebook is so tedious and time-consuming. Blech. Anyways, I'm back off to work. Can't go to bed too late, the virus seems to be making the rounds at school so I have to keep the immune system in tip top shape :D Later!

Visiting Dreamland

07/02/11

So last night I managed to force my mummy to get some sleep. She has had so much work to do lately that she has been skipping out on visiting dreamland. Fortunately, I convinced her to sleep early last night and then the two of us woke up earlier than usual to do some work. She should have gotten at least 5 hours which is significantly more than she has been getting of late. Hopefully I can get her to sleep again tonight. Fingers crossed!

Soca meh say!!

 06/02/11

With carnival season comes so much energy, especially with the round the clock play of our very own soca music. I listened to soca all night tonight while doing my work. It had me all pumped and lively (until of course I saw the time and realised that I had to wake up early in the morning.) The soca artistes are releasing some rel sweet music this year and Kees is definitely at the height of it. We still have about a month again until the grand festival and I think these artistes will continue to deliver. I hope to make some soca mixes to send to my non-Trini friends abroad. And so, in the words of Benjai, "Wuh she do! Wine to d side, wine to side, wine to d wine to d wine to d side!"

Hard To Say Sorry

05/02/11

Why is it that I find it so difficult to say, "I'm sorry" to my family or friends? Instead I just wait it out until we are no longer upset with each other. Why is it that I am so reluctant to apologize even when I am genuinely sorry? Is it because my apology should be understood? Or is it because I know we can't stay mad at each other for too long because we love each other too much? Whatever the reason, I know that this is something I want to work on, so that when the words really need to be said, I will be able to say them without any hesitance.

Rio baby!

04/02/11

So I have found a long-term goal or dream of sorts to work toward. To save enough money to go to World Cup 2014! Rio de Janeiro baby! In 2014, the FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil, close to home, so I think that would be a good dream to work toward. I’ll have to of course estimate the cost and stuff and see if it is even feasible. I only have 3 years to save and I am not even employed :/ But how awesome would that be! I’d be a junior in university by that time. Now I just have to find a posse to roll with :P I still haven’t backpacked through Europe yet! Maybe after I graduate from university? Thoughts to ponder…

Clean Slate

03/02/11
Don’t you find it hilarious that teachers expect you to remember things they taught you last year or even 3 years before. Don’t they know that from the moment exams are over my mind is wiped clean. A blank slate. I tend to remember math concepts easily though, once we review them in class or something. I think that’s because math requires so much practice. Other subjects however….not so much. I remember topics and such but to actually explain…no such luck there. I remember learning things just not exactly what I learnt, if that makes any sense. Perhaps I should start doing memory retention exercises or something. I don’t think it’s all that weird though, me not knowing. I just think my classmates don’t own up to not knowing. Hmph! :P

:O

AHHHHHHHH!!! 3 days behind on my posting! What madness is this! How shameful! That’s because when I was trying to post ‘illegally’ in school my connection was giving trouble. That and the fact that I slept as soon as I got home every day of this week :S I never even got up to do any work. I think my body might be getting too accustomed to being too well rested. :/

Drugs

Picture 33/365
Take a look outside.
02/02/11
Why do people take drugs to get high? Can't you just get high off of life? I mean, I get 'high' off of laughing and smiling and eating chocolate :P Obviously, living in the Caribbean, people taking drugs is not an uncommon thing for me. With the whole Rastafarianism religion in Jamaica and our close proximity to Central and South America, drug trafficking is a serious issue for the Caribbean nations. However, as popular as taking drugs is said to be, I have only heard one group of individuals speaking about it openly and shamelessly. It disgusts me to see how casual they are about it, as though smoking weed is not illegal. You would probably think they were selling pokemon cards. Ridiculous! What upsets me the most is when they discuss their 'private business' in front of younger students. Talk about it in my presence, fine. I already know I will NEVER be engaging in activities of that sort. But their minds are impressionable. Argh! Now the younger students want to 'experiment.' They want to try it at least once. Steups! Don't they know that these things are addictive? People rarely ever 'try them once.' STEUPS! IDLENESS!!

Morning Posts

Picture 32/365
Lord, I need a hand.
So I'm posting this from my iPod. I'm in school right now. It' 6:42am. Technically, I'm breaking the rules by using this 'device' but it's 6:44, there are a handful of students here right now.

I very much like doing this early morning posting. Maybe I should continue this routine since I keep visiting dreamland too early and not posting until the next day. Case in point, after our grand all-nighter on Sunday, I managed to stay awake in all my classes but promptly knocked out on the ride home. :( Hence no work was done. So I'm off to do said work as soon as I'm done posting this entry.

Balancing it out.

Post for 31/01/11

There are too many things that I have to do, that I want to do and I feel as though I don't have enough energy. There's enough time to do them all...but that means omitting sleep from my daily routine.
Picture 31/365
I'm A Survivor
After battling cancer, I find that work just does not seem as important or pressing anymore. Enjoying my life and taking care of myself, spending time with my friends and family and laughing until I can barely breathe- those are the things that matter the most to me now. It's not that I don't care at all. I just care significantly less. I mean why sweat the little things to the point where you make yourself sick. You can't perform your best if you don't feel your best. Health first, work later.

So I'm not going to run myself to the ground studying and wear my body out. My body has been through enough trauma and torture don't you think so? However, I'm not going to flush all the hard work I've done over the years down the drain. I'll just have to find a way to balance it all :S

Always.
Faith.

Contemplations and Late nights

30/01/11
Tonight my entire family was up until dawn finishing up projects. Family of procrastinators or just a family that works better under pressure? Oh well, the family that stays up late together wakes up late together :P

Picture 30/365
Through rose-coloured curtains.

So I've been thinking about my fast (Well, more like rethinking it)and I have decided that while I will continue to abstain from Facebook, YouTube and the like, I will still post on blogger. I feel that the completion of my 365 project can only be truly achieved if a post is done each day (or almost each day in the case of severe uncontrollable drowsiness) rather than all in one post. What transpires today should be recorded and told today, not five months from now. Since I was so excited and determined to do this project, I have decided to continue posts as usual. Short posts may become the norm at exam time however.

Gasohol

While doing research and making notes for the last module in our Chemistry syllabus, Industry and the Environment, I came across gasohol. Now, in case you didn’t know, ‘gasohol’ is an alternative form of fuel for vehicles which contains 20% ethanol in lead-free petrol. It’s widely known because of its mass production in Brazil. Now, I knew about using ethanol as car fuel before I began my research but what I didn’t know was that it was being produced from sugar cane. Moreover, it is also being produced and the ethanol being exported by one of our fellow Caribbean nations, Belize. So then tell me, why oh why isn’t our beloved country of Trinidad and Tobago using gasohol? Well, apparently, according to my daddy, just before they closed down Caroni, there were some discussions about using the factory to manufacture ethanol instead of sugar, however, it was deemed uneconomical. Neither my father nor I am convinced. Trinidad constantly relies solely on their oil and natural gas industry despite them having the knowledge that it is a non-renewable resource and hence will run out soon. We should be looking into gasohol! And what about solar energy? Why oh why do I never see solar panels on any of our building rooftops? WE ARE A TROPICAL ISLAND! SUNSHINE BLAZING DOWN ON US YEAR-ROUND! After Hurricane Ivan, Grenada, our next door neighbor, has been seriously implementing renewable energy sources. Their hotels and prominent buildings have solar panels on every rooftop. When we stood on St. George’s University campus and looked out over the city, that is what we saw-solar power at work. They are even looking into wind energy and planning for a possible coastal wind farm. It amazed me and at the same time confused me. Why wasn’t Trindad doing that? If the even smaller island of Grenada was able of implementing this, why weren’t we? Perhaps that was exactly the reason. Trinidad feel they to big! They have oil! They LARGE! Well let me tell you something. Soon, the oil go done! And what allyuh goin an do den eh!? STEUPS! Rubbish I tell you! Instead of trying to use sustainable resources and plan for a better future for our children, we want to hand them a withered and rotten Earth on a silver platter? Unbelievable.

Picture 29/365
Cracked up.
P.S. I posted this because I needed to get it out but maybe I'll have intermittent updates or something during my 'hiatus' (doesn't make it a hiatus anymore does it). Anyways, possible posts in the future, however I'm officially out until June. Sayoonara!

Friday, January 28, 2011

GOODBYE!

So I have decided that my hiatus will last until my CAPE exams are over. So expect a MASSIVE update on Saturday June 11th. :D I have decided to do this because I need less distractions to remain focused. After all, nothing good comes without sacrifice. Ganbatte ne!

Time to Abstain.

So I want to come off the internet for a while but I'll need to check my email on a regular basis so I'm more looking at abstaining from all social networking sites which, sadly, includes this one. The thing is, one of my resolutions was to complete the 365 Project, i.e. the 365 album and blog. What if I just post on the blog once a week? I really do think total and complete withdrawal from Facebook, Blogger and Messenger is best though. That and chocolate. Today was my last pack of chocolate until after Lent. I'll be sure to continue taking my pictures though and just add them all in one go when I return. Not sure when that is though. Maybe I'll make an appearance after Lent also. Just to update. We'll see. This isn't final yet. It's a thought in progress. I will get back to you. Probably before I go to bed actually.

Think, Think, Think.

:/

Delayed posting again. Sleep is the cause once more. So my math test didn't go as well as I hoped it would have. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't awesome either. Hopefully, it's not bad. I'll just have to make up for it in my other two tests :/

Logic

Picture 26/365
Logic.
I have a pure math IA tomorrow so wish me luck! MATH! <3

P.S. Thought this was hilarious! :D
""Every minute dies a man, Every minute one is born;"  I need hardly point out to you that this calculation would tend to keep the sum total of the world's population in a state of perpetual equipoise, whereas it is a well-known fact that the said sum total is constantly on the increase.  I would therefore take the liberty of suggesting that in the next edition of your excellent poem the erroneous calculation to which I refer should be corrected as follows:  "Every moment dies a man, And one and a sixteenth is born."  I may add that the exact figures are 1.067, but something must, of course, be conceded to the laws of metre."  ~Charles Babbage, letter to Alfred, Lord Tennyson, about a couplet in his "The Vision of Sin"

HELLO BLOG!

HELLO BLOG!

How goes you, my dear audience? I hope that all is well with you all. Lots of smiles and laughter of course. So, I've been doing maths! Excitement! I felt very productive this evening. Oh the feeling of accomplishment! Let's revel in it shall we? Hm. Hm. Hm. It feels so good. I need to be productive more often. When I was actually getting somewhere, I thought, hmmm, progress (such a foreign concept :P), I could do this more often. I actually felt like studying! How delightful! Hopefully my urge to study for exams is upon arrival. :D Yay!

Picture 25/365

But anyways, I should head off to bed now. Maybe wake up a little early to do some more maths? We shall see. Take care! Study hard!  Smile harder! :P

Chelsea (HEY! That's the first time I "signed'' a post! Should I do that all the time? hmm...)

P.S. Any ideas you have for a post or anything you would like to hear (well read) me talk about, just let me know. You can put it in a comment. Thanks!

24/01/11

So, yesterday, I forgot about my blog. :O I know! So strange! It's not that I didn't think about it at all. I did. I just forgot to post when I got home and went to ZZzzz-land. :( So I shall double post today. What happened yesterday? I don't think it was that eventful actually. Oh! Apparently there was an iguana just chilling on a branch outside the form 6 block. I didn't have my camera though :( Saddities. Although, that does remind me of a vid from TriniToons that I saw on youtube. It's called, "De Wild Meat Famalee." Check it out >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTnkRU1tQ0k (especially you Wild Meat! You know who you are! :P )

Wanna be anime.

Mummy and I went experimenting today with the curly fro atop my head. We tried flat-ironing it and the result was very anime-like...see for yourself!

Picture 23/365
Partially Straightened Hair. Partially anime style? :/

That is until it started to look a bit crackhead-ish :S Haha. Leslie had a good laugh at me. Steups! And after I was so excited too :( But mummy fixed it and hopefully we'll have a new hairstyle to go to school with in the morning :D

Oh! They broadcasted the Moka fete on the radio and that had me rel dancing whole night! Carnival season!!!!! AH WOTLESSSSSSSS!!!!! :D

What do you think of my straightened look?

For Carlos.

For Tracy and Carlos. Forever in our hearts. <3
Today, another beloved friend was lost to cancer. Carlos, you will forever be remembered as one of the strongest, most resilient, forever hopeful and happy persons I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. You have definitely changed my life for the better. Never giving up, you always fought the good fight with a smile on your face, seeming unfazed even when things went wrong. You made me laugh, you made me cry, you helped me to learn what it really means to enjoy life. And although it pains me to accept that you are no longer with us, I take comfort in the fact that you are no longer suffering or in pain now that you are in heaven. You will forever remain in my heart as a friend, a fellow patient, a dream street family member and a cancer warrior. <3

Light will prevail

21/01/11
So today, as soon as I got home, current went... :( tsktsktsk

21/365
Let light in...
I don't even know when it came back. So sad. Apparently they had to replace a transformer or something. Well that took forever because I slept, woke up, ate, limed, went back to sleep and still no electricity. :S But it eventually did come back even though I was unaware of when exactly. That is why I couldn't post something new for you! :( Sorry!

So anyways, today we ran more tests for our applied maths project. :D Yay! We got the idea here >>> http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/Phys_p036.shtml?fave=no&isb=cmlkOjc1NTQzMDgsc2lkOjAscDoyLGlhOlBoeXM&from=TSW . Check out the site! It's pretty cool :D Our friends seemed more excited than we were hehe. Now I just have to write up the paper so I'll have that out of the way.

Don't crush our coaster!!

Non Nobis Solum Sed Omnibus.

"Non Nobis Solum Sed Omnibus" ~ Not for ourselves only, but for all.
One of the many things I love about my school-our motto. Not for ourselves only, but for all. This motto not only implies that we should treat others with kindness and generosity but rather it instills a deep commitment to service to community; that what we gain, learn or achieve should not only be used to benefit our lives but also to benefit and positively impact the lives of others.
So much has this motto impacted my life that when deciding which universities to apply to, a dedication to community service and creating active citizens were high on the list of my requirements. So do not ever think that the Lord gave you all the lovely blessings you have received in your lifetime so that you can hoard them all to yourself. Share them with the world. Make a difference.

Talking To The Moon

YAYYYYYYYY! The girls are feeling much better today! Thank you Lord! :D

Picture 19/365
Through the rear view mirror.

The moon is scary gorgeous tonight! When we were driving it seemed as though it was about to roll out of the sky and onto the road. That's how big it was! I didn't get a good picture that would truly get across how unbelievable it was but here's a picture nonetheless.

Since the moon has been so full and gorgeous for the past two nights, perhaps you should take a listen to a song from Bruno Mars' album, "Doowops and Hooligans" called 'Talking to the Moon.' Gorgeous song for the gorgeous moon. You can also hear a cover of the song by one of my friends at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbPohFE0FNM and subscribe if you like! Gorgeous girl singing a gorgeous song for the gorgeous moon :P hehehe

Crazy things are going on in school. Crazy, scary things. Everyone is sick! :O And not just a cold or virus, throwing up, nausea, sick! What madness! Time for me to stay my tail home! I don't want any of that by me! Vitamins! Tea! and Sleep! I cannot afford to get whatever it is that is going around :S

18/01/11

When I got to school this morning the birds were chirping really loudly, so I was serenaded while I did my math homework. Just thought it would be cool to share with you.

Sadly, the mysterious bug going around got to most of the new WBC. Only four of us were in school today. I hope they get better soon. It sounds bad :(
So, I was pretty productive the 1st week of school but then we basically 3 days off the 2nd week and now I'm in a slump. Grrr...now I have to re-motivate myself.Chelsea fighting! :P

CARNIVAL 2K11!!!!!

CARNIVAL IS IN THE AIRRRRR!!!

My dear friend, Leslie, the TRUE Carnival chile (even though he isn't a Carnival baby :P he is at heart haha), and I are very excited and hyped for Carnival. We cannot wait for the fete-ing to begin! He'll be playing mas (lucky!) and is planning to hit, get this, a total of 5 fetes you know! Wild chile I tell you! Hopefully once I stick to resolution #1, I'll be able to join him to at least one of these. Excitement!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see Kes again! "AH WOTLESSSSS!!!!!" So we shall be enjoying ourselves this Carnival season because who knows when next I'll be here to particpate in the festivities :P Ahhhh... sweet T&T :D

HELLO BLOG!

Jus Bloggin'
I find that I am running out of things to say in my blog. Perhaps I need to roam the blogworld for some inspiration. Did you know that originally I wanted to name this blog chilli bibi? My grandad used to make it for us when we were small and since my initials are CB and I always carried some to school my friends took to calling me that. Sadly the name was taken though, by a fellow Trini. She posts local recipes on her blog. Maybe I'll post a recipe one of these days. Hmmm.....Anyways! Off to find some inspiration! :P

Zzzzzz...

Post for 14/01/11
Sorry for another late post but I was sleeeeeepyyyy last night. I fell asleep early too so I thought that I may have woken up before morning to make this post but apparently not. Even with all that sleep though, I'm still tired :( Grrr. So my resolutions started to fall through a bit :'( and it's only the second week of the year :O but I'll try to fix it. I have to keep organised and on top of my work! Time management! (That probably means I should stop blogging right now and hit the books :P) Later!

Self-Exploration

During the long and tedious process that is the university application process, I have been forced to ask myself many questions. In which of your accomplishments during high school do you take the greatest pride? Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you. Why are you interested in the academic discipline chosen? These questions have led to a bit of self-searching and self-evaluation. I have been faced with some harsh realities (e.g. procrastination will not help me to succeed in univeristy :O ) and as such, I have been forced to make some changes in my life (i.e. resolution #1 Resist all attempts to procrastinate). Evidently, no matter how troublesome and never-ending writing these essays may seem, they serve their purpose to admissions officers and surprisingly to us applicants who are able to grow and develop through self-exploration of our past, our present and our possible future.
